July 2020 Messages from President Vice President Past President 2nd Vice President Financial Secretary Recording Secretary Sergeant at Arms Legislative Per Capita Scholarship State Subordinate News DC Georgia Pennsylvania Utah Even though some areas of our country have opened to allow us to resume some sort of normalcy concerning everyday life we are still feeling the effects in our abilities to plan and carryout events of any magnitude Several of our Auxiliaries across the county have found unique ways to keep not only their own members involved but inviting Auxiliaries around the country to join with them in virtual events These events have been very successful and I applaud the Auxiliary members who envisioned and organized these events As we struggle with the constraints which are still in effect regarding gatherings we need to continue to search for ways to keep our members interested and involved in our objective to support FOP members and their families The Grand Lodge Auxiliary Officers and Board of Trustees will meet to attend to the business of the Auxiliary in Atlantic Beach Florida September 4 5 2020 Information concerning report dates and other information pertinent to the meeting has been forwarded by Secretary Martinez Any auxiliary member is invited to attend the Board Meeting in Florida and will be seated in the meeting room as a guest Attending the meeting would give you an opportunity to hear reports of all committees and projects to come before the National Board Please remember if your subordinate auxiliary is not current in their per capita you cannot be seated as an officer or trustee I look forward to seeing many of you there While we are still dealing with issues concerning COVID 19 our law enforcement officers are dealing every day with assault on their profession and at times on them personally The country s streets and communities are in a volatile state and our law enforcement officers face danger every day Remember to keep them in our thoughts and prayers and remind them daily they are our Heroes and have our support As always please don t hesitate to contact me if I can be of assistance to your Auxiliary Linda Hennie President Grand Lodge FOP Auxiliary lshennie aol com Never Let The Walk Alone

Grand Lodge Vice President terriijamal gmail com I hope this month finds everyone doing well as the COVID impacts continue and the life distractions have us all bobbing and weaving through our activities The creativeness during this pandemic has been inspirational and fun I believe our Utah Auxiliary has set the standard for future and ongoing virtual events Thanks for the Virtual 5K it was a perfect way for me to get involved in my first police week I would love to hear more ides and feedback on any fundraising events so that we continue to share what works and have others steal our great ideas I previously shared the Krispy Kreme fundraiser idea Our local lodge did and event in a neighborhood that was signing up food trucks during Covid We receive pre orders of almost 100 dozen donuts With the purchase of donuts and additional donations made we made over 700 for about 90 minute s worth of work It was a lot of fun as well folks would drive up and we delivered the donuts to their car It was great to have 3 of our FOP Husbands join us for the fundraiser as well We will be doing more of these Merchandise update Partnering and sending our newsletter information to the FOP has proven to be very good for our Ways and Means merchandise sales It has been awesome to continue to do fundraising while police week was cancelled We are already ordering more Challenge coins and I have also had to order more of the large fallen officer shirts It is great to have the support and partnership with our FOP we are so much better as we work together There has been over 8 000 deposited into Ways and Means since April 1 for merchandise and Memorial coins I am patiently waiting on the Auxiliary challenge coins to be delivered as the vendor and suppliers have been closed down for COVID I expect to receive shipment within about the next week or so I will get all shipments out as soon as I receive them If you have other items that you also ordered I have held off on shipping until I receive the Auxiliary coins so that I can ship everything at once Thanks you for your understanding I will be working on items to sell at the National Board Meeting in Jacksonville FL I will have the police week T shirts and challenge coins available at the event as well

Morris Heithcock FOP Auxiliary Lodge 41 Williamson County TN Our Brentwood TN community county state and nation lost Officer Destin Legieza on June 18th while he was working his shift His life was cut short after a driver hit the officer s vehicle after crossing over traffic lanes Unfortunately later that driver was found to be intoxicated The Brentwood police department was founded 49 years ago and this was the first officer that has fallen in the line of duty and it has hit the department and community very hard It was amazing to see the brotherhood come together immediately to recognize this officer Nashville Metro Police immediately jumped in to help support and organize the event Hundreds of officers and thousands of family friends police supporters and community members attended and contributed to the events held this week Destin was a young 30 years old and is survived by his Wife of 4 years Please keep Destin and his family in your thoughts as they work through their grief and their lives that have been torn apart Never Let The Walk Alone

Grand Lodge Sergeant at Arms Julie Black indy gov And we thought Ferguson was bad I personally believe that 2020 can just be deleted from our history books The first 2 months of this year we were planning Police Weeks planning our fundraisers for police week and planning our memorial services to honor our fallen heroes and then came this crazy thing we hadn t heard of called COVID We had no idea what was happening in our world This virus was attacking us our families and even thousands of police officers all over the U S and even worse took lives of our loved ones How could this be for the first time in history since the first memorial service Police Week 2020 was cancelled I hope all of you have had the chance to watch the tribute video that Presidents Yoes and Hennie many FOP and Auxiliary members and the many country music icons that support our police officers It surely didn t replace our memorial service but it still remembered our fallen 2019 heroes And then the rest of May 2020 What a horrific terrible incident that happened in Minneapolis Once again officers are just doing their jobs and were faced with a repeat offender that simply didn t want to go back to jail Although the majority of law enforcement officers and US alike agree that this was a terrible incident that happened We could sit for hours and discuss the what ifs and if only guessing game but we weren t there and all we have is what is being told from our so called media and reporters This incident as we all know and most have experienced in our home towns the riots and protesting We in Indianapolis also had a police involved shooting the beginning of May The subject LIVE streamed the entire police chase and even included the shots fired by officer and subject because at that time the officers were unaware that this was all being shown to the world via his Facebook page This incident along with the George Floyd s murder sent tempers flaring and the politicians were coming out of the woodwork to support EVERYONE but the police officers The very police officers we love and share our lives with Indianapolis was very fortunate with the number of officers affected by COVID but we sure had our FAIR share of those that came into contact and tested positive of the virus But if that wasn t bad enough we ended up with some of the Black Lives Matter movement being flown in by the airplane loads to come to our city to do nothing but destroy our downtown Our officers fought these people for days non stop and many did so on their days off with little personal time off and because they took the oath to protect the community and citizens We are quite sure that we haven t seen the last of these rioters and protestors But I for one believe that every live matters like many of you as well But police officers are not the bad guys in most incidents they just want to go home at the end of their shift to their families Why is that so hard to understand Our FOP did participate in honoring one of our families that has never got to go to police week to have her husband honored 50 years ago on June 14th Reserve Lieutenant Jimmie Wingate was buried after being shot in the line of duty The family was planning on making their first trip to Police Week and our FOP and COPS were going to honor the family this year We were able to give the honors to Lieutenant Wingate and present the family with the supreme sacrifice he deserved That was a good day We all need to keep praying for our law enforcement officers their families and US We continue to be put in the line of fire UNJUSTLY at that We are all here for each other and I hope you all know that I too am available at any time day or night if anyone needs an ear to listen and WHO gets it Looking forward to September and praying that nothing gets in our way for our meeting Fingers crossed and ready to get away Stay safe and always watch your back d Never Let The Walk Alone

Georgia Trustee nicija aol com As I sit at my computer contemplating day 525 of self quarantine I wonder what the rest of the year will hold for us I have made very limited trips from the house I am an expert at ordering everything online Our state conference has been postponed twice and now pushed back to October I really miss the ability to socialize with friends Georgia has had an upturn in the number of positive cases of COVID 19 this past week right after the beaches open and the riots I mean peaceful protests I think the Governor needs to lock us back down until we learn how to behave While self quarantine the members of the Georgia Auxiliary have stayed busy helping others We have made hundred or more masks They are being donated to Cherokee NC This is where my brother lives and they have a mandatory mask requirement when in public We have sent two packages to them And a third is being prepared now Francis Brice a member of our local Auxiliary has helped a lady in her town Together they have cut and prep the material for masks for their local Law Enforcement Officers Also Charlotte Scoggins has been busy with her crochet hook making hats to be donated to the Cancer Center Charlotte and I have been crocheting lap blankets to give to the officers in the State that have been injured this year Since Memorial Day week end my local lodge Cobb County suburb of Atlanta has had over 50 new members join to get the Legal Defense Protection We have one new lodge in North Ga installed last month They already have several spouses interested in forming an Auxiliary We have upwards of 4 other lodges that might be installed this summer They are receiving information about the Auxiliary Many of the spouses are young and have never experienced anything like the current events happening in Atlanta and around the US They are fearful Our Auxiliary members have been reaching out to many of them reassuring them they have our support One Auxiliary member is meeting with several at a local coffee shop just to chit chat Hopefully our support will show these spouses that as Auxiliary members we Never Let Them Walk Alone I pray that peace comes back to our nation quickly and Law Enforcement Officers are treated with the respect they deserve Michigan Trustee mapple106682mi comcast net NEVER LET THEM WALK ALONE
