The Messages from President Past President Vice President Financial Secretary Recording Secretary 2nd Vice President Sergeant at Arms Legislative Police Week Benefits Scholarship State Subordinate News DC Georgia Indiana Pennsylvania Utah March 2021 March 2021 brings more challenges and a renewed sense of wanting and needing to get back to normal March 15th 2020 just one year ago marked the beginning of the COVID 19 pandemic and restrictions that affected every part of our lives While many of the restrictions have been decreased or lifted in some states we are looking forward to being able to gather for meetings and events enjoy visiting with friends and move about our wonderful country more freely To this end the National Auxiliary has begun their efforts to provide information and instruction on various areas of the Auxiliary that members usually have questions regarding implementation etc The first session was held February 17 and included information on What the Auxiliary Has to Offer and Why Join the Auxiliary We had just under 40 participants which I believe was a very fine attendance for our first session Our next session will be presented by National Recording Linda Martinez and National Financial Secretary Brittney Holley Their presentation will be helpful to not only the current secretaries but to anyone interested in serving as secretary in your subordinate or state auxiliary Watch the Informer or the Grand Lodge Auxiliary Facebook page for the time of the Secretary sessions We are hopeful that this session and future sessions will be helpful for auxiliary members in providing information on various areas and projects of the auxiliary If you have a particular subject you are interested in learning more about please contact me or Second Vice President Kristina Waters who is chairing this project Kristina can be reached at kristinawaters05 gmail com Even though we still have limitations the Auxiliary and our members need to move forward to assure that the members of our parent lodge know that we continue to support them Some lodges are not open for meetings or events and Auxiliaries are exploring ways in which to aid or promote a positive image of the law enforcement profession The families of law enforcement know their loved one to be a hero but it is not always so with the general public As always please contact me if I can be of assistance Linda Hennie President Grand Lodge FOP Auxiliary lshennie aol com Never Let Them Walk Alone

Julie Black Grand Lodge Sergeant at Arms Julie Black indy gov The FOP Police Week Committees met last weekend in Nashville We are keeping our fingers crossed that we will be in DC in May and have our memorial service this year President Yoes tasked the Committee to prepare a plan of action for May 15th And we did just that However both Committees are determined to have one of the most memorable services the FOP has ever executed Due to the different venue sites within the key organizations and COVID restrictions it is making decisions quite difficult as every state has different restrictions The Survivor hotel is in Messages from Virginia Candlelight Vigil and the Capitol is in D C President At the end of the meeting the committee presented the FOP with a plan This plan and permit request written up and has been submitted to the U S Capitol This permit has to be approved Vice was President by the people on the inside walls of the Capitol And unfortunately we do not know the timeframe this may take but we are hopeful and keeping positive that we will all know the fate of the Memorial Past President Service soon 2nd Vice President The Committee has continued with monthly Zoom calls with COPS and the Names Committee We now have close to 500 names to honor at this year s Memorial Service Financial Secretary We know that COVID precautions is going to play a major part in this year s Police Week We will be Sergeant at Arms taking all the necessary precautions to ensure we all stay safe and healthy Legislative We will keep everyone apprised of the information as soon as the Committee is notified We are going to need as many volunteers to make the Service and Police Week happen Per Capita Stay tuned for the upcoming announcement of the when the GOLDEN ticket will be drawn for the trip to Police Week or Cash VOLUNTEER INFORMATION State This years service will be different from past years due to the pandemic For now we are requesting all volunteers to signSubordinate up for dates only This will help to identify how many volunteers will be attending Police Week As the Committee works through all the new requirements and details we will update you through the Informer If you have any questions News please contact the committee at memorialservicevolunteer fop net Airport pickup will only be available for those volunteers staying at the designated volunteer hotel and arriving at the Reagan National Airport DC Please sign up at https www signupgenius com go 9040E4FABAA22A7FC1 npoms1 We appreciate all the POSITIVE thoughts WE owe it to our survivors Indiana Never Let Them Walk Alone Never Let Them Walk Alone

Ramona Stone Georgia Trustee nicija aol com I hope by the time you read this the country will be thawing out Georgia was 1 of 3 states that was not covered in snow when the rest of the country was in a blanket of snow February is the month of hearts chocolate and Special Olympic Polar Plunge I am excited to say that Georgia Special Olympics raised 178 810 00 for our Athletes Stay tune for more information coming your way about a Special Olympics Event at the National Conference in August Our local Auxiliary signed 25 Valentine cards to be given to the Special Olympic Athletes for Valentine s Day As the State President of the Auxiliary I informed the State FOP Trustees and members at the October State meeting that many municipalities and cities within the state are doing an injustice to the families of fallen LEOs Within our state many agencies terminate the health insurance of the spouse and family of an LEO upon their death including line of duty deaths So when a family is dealing with the worse nightmare that they can imagine they are then informed usually during a doctor s visit that they no longer have health insurance The FOP agreed with the Auxiliary that the health insurance of the family of an officer killed in the line of duty should not be terminated The FOP and the FOPA discussed this with Georgia House of Representatives and a new HB 434 was introduced this year in the House It has been read twice in the House of Representatives and now on the way to the State Senate for reading Hopefully it will come up for a vote before the end of the session in March We are excited that this bill may pass and be a benefit for the spouses and families of Officers WE NEVER LET THEM WALK ALONE Michigan Trustee mapple106682mi comcast net NEVER LET THEM WALK ALONE

Ann commerota Pennsylvania Trustee acammerota hotmail com Scholarship Guidelines Revised August 2017 The Kathryn M Milton Scholarship will be awarded every year and the following guidelines apply 1 One 500 00 and one 300 00 grant shall be awarded to a relative of an auxiliary member or an auxiliary member 2 The grant will be awarded to a graduated high school senior or a student attending a college vocational or business school to further his or her education This will include innovative High School Colleges but not traditional High Schools 3 A state or subordinate auxiliary or an individual member may donate the required entry fee as established by the Board of Trustees upon recommendation of the Scholarship Committee 4 The committee chairperson will set the deadline for all entries appropriately 5 Each auxiliary or auxiliary member sending in the required entry fee for that year will have their name placed with the other entries at the Grand Lodge Auxiliary Board meeting and or the semi annual conference each year A drawing will be held and the winning auxiliary will be announced The auxiliary will be notified and it is the jurisdiction of said auxiliary to award the grant A second name will also be drawn to serve as an alternate in the event that the winning auxiliary is unable to accept the grant 6 The chairperson of the Scholarship committee will be responsible for notifying the winners 7 The winning auxiliary must submit to the Scholarship Chairperson the name address age and institution of the recipient This must be done within 60 days of receiving the notification In addition a letter of attendance from the college must be submitted within this 60 day period 8 The Scholarship Chairperson will forward all monies to the Treasurer of the Grand Lodge Auxiliary The Treasurer shall deposit all monies received for the scholarship fund in a savings account at the same bank where the checking account for the auxiliary is maintained The aforesaid savings account is used solely for the Kathryn M Milton Scholarship Fund Michigan Trustee mapple106682mi comcast net 9 The Scholarship Chairperson shall submit an expense sheet to the Treasurer for processing The Treasurer shall disburse the funds from this savings account upon receipt of proper voucher from the Scholarship Chairperson NEVER LET THEM WALK ALONE
