Chipman to serve as Director of the Bureau of Alcohol,Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF);Anne Milgram to serve as Administrator the Drug EnforcementAdministration (DEA); andKenneth Allen Polite, Jr. to serve as Assistant Attorney Generalfor the Criminal Division at the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ).The Senate Committee on the Judiciary held a hearing toconsider various nominations, which included:The FOP supported the nomination of Ms. Milgram.THIS WEEK IN WASHINGTONThe Senate considered and passed S. 921, the “Jamie Zapataand Victor Avila Federal Law Enforcement Officers ProtectionAct," by unanimous consent. The legislation, which the FOP supported, would undo adangerous precedent set by the D.C. Circuit Court of Appealsand clarify that Federal law clearly and unambiguously protectsFederal law enforcement officers operating outside ournational borders. The bill was transmitted to the House forfurther consideration.
