National President Patrick Yoes spoke at the International Council of Police
Representative Associations (ICPRA) 2022 conference hosted in Glasgow,
Scotland. National President Yoes shared strategies and goals to improve
policing worldwide. Joining National President Yoes were National Secretary
Jimmy Holderfield, National Treasurer James Smallwood, and National
Chairman of Trustees Rob Pride.

regarding firearms violence and potential legislation addressing the issue, as
well as the President’s recent Executive Order, general criminal justice reform,
and the nationwide increase in violent crime.

THE U.S. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
The House Committee on Oversight and Reform held a hearing entitled "The
Urgent Need to Address the Gun Violence Epidemic." Providing testimony at
this double panel hearing were numerous survivors of recent shootings
The House Select Committee on the January 6th Attack held its first public
hearing to present the initial summary of the committee's findings on the
attack. Providing testimony at the hearing was U.S. Capitol Police Officer
Caroline Edwards, who was injured by rioters.
Raise the lawful age to purchase a “semiautomatic centerfire rifle” from
18 to 21;
Ban high-capacity magazines;
Increase penalties for gun trafficking and straw purchases;
Create new criminal penalties for failure to safely store firearms;
Outlaw bump stocks; and
Outlaw "ghost guns."
The House passed H.R. 7910, the "Protecting Our Kids Act" on a 223-204
vote. This legislation would:
The bill will now be transmitted to the Senate for a vote. At this time, it is
unlikely that the bill will be able to overcome the required 60 vote threshold.
