National Treasurer James Smallwood represented the FOP at the board
meeting of the National Law Enforcement Memorial.
Executive Director Jim Pasco gave numerous media interviews regarding
various topics, including the recruitment and retention issue that agencies are
facing nationwide as well as the surge in violent crime.
Senior Legislative Liaison Tim Richardson represented the FOP on a
stakeholder call to discuss H.R. 5768, the “Violent Incident Clearance and
Technological Investigative Methods (VICTIM) Act,” and H.R. 6448, the
“Invest to Protect Act,” and how to improve the chances for Senate action on
these two House-passed bills.
Senior Legislative Liaison Tim Richardson participated in a conference call
with staff from the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) and the
House Committee on Ways and Means to discuss H.R. 82, the “Social
Security Fairness Act,” and other pending Social Security issues
FOP Sergeant-at-Arms Keith Turney and Senior Legislative Liaison Tim
Richardson participated in a conference call with staff from the the Office of
Apprenticeship in the U.S. Department of Labor to discuss ways to model
their program to recruit law enforcement officers.
Senior Legislative Liaison Tim Richardson spoke with staff in the office of
Senator Sherrod C. Brown (D-OH) regarding Social Security issues.
