National President Patrick Yoes joined Senator Sherrod C. Brown (D-OH) on amedia call to discuss the Senator's FEND Off Fentanyl Act (Fentanyl Eradication andNarcotics Deterrence Off Fentanyl). The FEND Off Fentanyl Act is a sanctions andanti-money laundering bill to help combat the country’s fentanyl crisis by targetingopioid traffickers devastating America’s communities. The bill will enhance currentlaw so U.S. government agencies can more effectively disrupt illicit opioid supplychains and penalize those facilitating the trafficking of fentanyl. The bill alsoensures that sanctions are imposed not only on the illicit drug trade, but also on themoney laundering that makes it profitable. LEGISLATIVE NEWS & ACTIVITY

@GLFOP @FOPNATIONALNATIONAL FRATERNAL ORDER OF POLICETHIS WEEK IN WASHINGTONTHE U.S. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVESSouth Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol addressed a joint session of Congress.During the address, the President praised the “synergy” between the United Statesand South Korea, called on North Korea to end its nuclear provocations, and warnedagainst the threat disinformation poses to democracies around the world.The House considered and passed H.R. 2811, the “Limit, Save, Grow Act,” on a 217-215 vote. The bill, which would reduce government spending and increase thefederal debt limit, was transmitted to the Senate for further action.The House Committee on Homeland Security considered and passed H.R. 2794,the “Border Reinforcement Act,” on an 18-15 vote. The bill, which now awaits actionby the full House, would resume the construction of barriers on the U.S.-Mexicoborder, increase the number of Border Patrol agents, and modernize surveillancetechnology, among other changes.The House Committee on Appropriations Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice,Science, and Related Agencies held a hearing entitled: “Fiscal Year 2024 Requestfor the Department of Justice Grantmaking Components” Hugh T. Clements Jr., theDirector of the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services, was among thosewho testified.

The Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions advanced JulieSu, the Biden Administration’s nominee to be the next U.S. Secretary of Labor, on an11-10 vote.
