U.S. Assistant Attorney General Kristen M. Clarke testified.The House Committee on the Judiciary considered, amended, and passed H.R.6570, the “Protect Liberty and End Warrantless Surveillance Act,” on a 35-2 vote.The bill contains a dangerous provision -- H.R. 4639, the “Fourth Amendment Is NotFor Sale Act,” which the FOP strongly opposes. The provision would prohibit lawenforcement officers from accessing certain publicly available information wheninvestigating crimes like murder, kidnapping, terrorism, and other serious offenses.The FOP is fighting to ensure this provision will be stripped out on the House flooror, more likely, when it is transmitted to the Senate.
