THE U.S. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
The House considered and passed H. Con. Res. 14 by a vote of 216-214. The budget
resolution acts as an outline for priorities on taxes, immigration, defense, energy, and
Federal spending and allows for the consideration of a reconciliation measure. A budget
reconciliation measure can pass with a simple majority, avoiding a Senate filibuster.
The House considered and passed H.R. 22, the “SAVE Act,” which would require
individuals to provide documentary proof of U.S. citizenship when registering to vote in
federal elections by a vote of 220-208.
The House considered H. Con. Res. 9, Authorizing the use of the Capitol Grounds for the
National Peace Officers Memorial Service and the National Honor Guard and Pipe Band
Exhibition, under suspension of the rules.
The House considered and passed H.R 1228, the “Prioritizing Veterans Survivors Act,”
which would restore the Office of Survivors Assistance to its original role under the
Secretary of Veterans Affairs, on a vote of 424-0.
The House Judiciary Committee held a hearing entitled, “A Continued Pattern of
Government Surveillance of U.S. Citizens.”
The House Judiciary Committee held a hearing entitled, “Sanctuary Jurisdictions:
Magnet for Migrants, Cover for Criminals.” Witnesses included Neill Franklin, the Former
Executive Director of the Law Enforcement Action Partnership.
The House considered and passed H.R. 1526, the “No Rogue Rulings Act,” which would
limit the authority of federal district courts to issue injunctions by a vote of 219-213.
