The Senate considered and passed H.R. 517, the “Filing Relief for Natural Disasters Act,”by unanimous consent. The bill now heads to the President’s desk.The Senate Committee on Appropriations held a full markup of the Commerce, Justice,Science, and Related Agencies bill. The CJS subcommittee adopted an amendment tothe measure that prohibits any funding to construct a new headquarters for the FederalBureau of Investigation (FBI) at any other site besides Greenbelt, Maryland on a 15-14vote. The bill was then approved by the full Committee on Appropriations by voice. Notext or bill summary is available at this time.The Senate considered and passed S. 1003, “Lulu’s Law,” by unanimous consent. Thebill, which requires the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to issue an orderexplicitly permitting the transmission of wireless emergency alerts to mobile phones inthe event of a shark attack, has been transmitted to the House for further action.
