National President Patrick Yoes and Executive Director Jim Pasco met with Kashyap
P.V. Patel, who has been nominated by President Donald J. Trump to serve as the next
Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Mr. Patel’s nomination will be considered
on the Senate floor next week.
LEGISLATIVE NEWS & ACTIVITY
National President Patrick Yoes attended the California State Lodge Winter Board
Meeting in Las Vegas, NV.
National President Patrick Yoes attended the National FOP Labor Leadership Summit in
Las Vegas, NV.
Executive Director Jim Pasco met with his counterpart at the International Association of
Fire Fighters (IAFF) to discuss ways the two organizations can work together on issues
of mutual interest.
Senior Legislative Liaison Tim Richardson spoke with staff in the office of Senator
Michael F. Bennett (D-CO) to discuss draft legislation providing mental health providers
to assist with calls for service involving mental illness.
Executive Director Jim Pasco met with his counterparts at the International Association
of Chiefs of Police (IACP) to discussion issues of mutual interest and cooperation.
National President Patrick Yoes attended the National FOP Legal Counsel Seminar in Las
Vegas, NV.
Senior Legislative Liaison Tim Richardson and Legislative Liaison Ben Stokes met with
majority staff of the House Committee on the Judiciary to discuss FOP priorities.

THE U.S. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
The House considered and passed H.R. 35, the “Raul Gonzalez Officer Safety Act,”
on a 264-155 vote. The bill, which would establish new Federal criminal offenses
for operating a motor vehicle within 100 miles of the U.S. border while fleeing from
U.S. Border Patrol, now awaits action in the Senate.
The House considered and passed H.R. 77, the “Midnight Rules Relief Act,” on a
212-208 vote. The bill, which allows Congress to disapprove multiple regulations
under one joint resolution of disapproval if the regulations were submitted for
review during a portion of the final year of a President's term, now awaits further
action in the Senate.

The Senate confirmed Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. to serve as Secretary of the U.S.
Department of Health and Human Services on a 52-48 vote.
The Senate confirmed Tulsi Gabbard to serve as U.S. Director of National
Intelligence on a 52-48 vote.
THIS WEEK IN WASHINGTON
THE UNITED STATES SENATE
The Senate confirmed Brooke Rollins to serve as Secretary of the U.S. Department
of Agriculture on a 72-28 vote.
The Senate passed S. 146, the “TAKE IT DOWN Act,” by unanimous consent. This
bill, which the FOP supports, would protect victims from harassment, intimidation,
and exploitation by holding accountable the individuals who publish or intend to
publish non-consensual intimate imagery (NCII) as well as requiring websites to
remove NCII that have been manipulated or generated by AI. The legislation will
now go to the House for further consideration.

Washington and Canada Sign Historic Partnership
to Combat Tren de Aragua
Interpol Director Jeffrey A. Grimming and National Central Bureau
Ottawa Director Marie-Josee Homsy have signed a historic
Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) to strengthen cross-border law
enforcement collaboration against Tren de Aragua (TdA), one of the
world’s most dangerous transnational criminal organizations.
Recommendation for Hugh T. Clements, Jr. to serve
as Director of the COPS Office
National President Patrick Yoes sent a letter to President
Trump to recommend the re-appointment of Hugh T. Clements,
Jr. to serve once again as Director of the Office of Community
Oriented Policing Services.
