Graves (R-LA) and Abigail D. Spanberger (D-VA) are united in an effort touse a House procedure known as a discharge petition to force a vote on H.R. 82. Adischarge petition is a legislative mechanism to move legislation directly to thefloor provided the petition—an actual document—is physically signed by 218Members of the House. Members can begin signing this petition on 10 September—one day after the House returns to session.We are asking that ALL FOP members write or call their Representatives in theHouse and ask them to sign the discharge petition for H. One local high school student has experienced thistension up close, inspiring him to take action.Two years ago, Jasur Talipov launched the Trust The Badge Podcast to fostertrust between the community and law enforcement. He has recorded around 20 episodes featuring conversations with currentofficers, politicians, and citizens. While he acknowledges the legitimate incidentsthat have cast police in a negative light, he believes that law enforcement still hasa positive impact within our communities.
