The tour was hosted by the U.S.Border Patrol and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection in San Diego, CA, and wascoordinated by Executive Director Jim Pasco in Washington, D.C.National President Patrick Yoes attended the National FOP Spring Board ofTrustees Meeting and the State Lodge Presidents Meeting in San Diego, CA.National President Patrick Yoes gave various media interviews regarding lawenforcement challenges on the horizon, the recruitment and retention crisis, and theNational FOP's data showing a rise in the number of officers shot in the line of duty.LEGISLATIVE NEWS & ACTIVITY

As a results-driven, former law enforcement professional,Bill joins the organization with nearly 30 years of overall experience, starting withthe United States Air Force as a Security Police Officer at Andrews Air Force Base. Bill began the next phase of his career when he joined the Prince George’s CountyPolice Department in August 1997. He later became the Commander of the Trainingand Education Division, where he oversaw a forward-thinking, community policing-based police academy responsible for training new recruits and existing sworn andcivilian personnel.

The bill wouldforce the Chinese-held company ByteDance to sell the popular app TikTok to anAmerican company or be banned from operating within the U.S. The bill, which nowgoes to the Senate for further consideration, also prohibits distributing,maintaining, or providing internet hosting services for a foreign adversarycontrolled application unless the foreign adversary executes a qualified divestitureas determined by the President.The House Committee on the Judiciary held a hearing on the Report of SpecialCounsel Robert K. Hur, who investigated allegations that President Joseph R.Biden, Jr. improperly possessed classified documents.THIS WEEK IN WASHINGTONTHE U.S. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVESRepresentative Kenneth R. Buck (R-CO) announced that he would retire fromCongress before the end of his term, effective on 22 March. This will trigger aspecial election to fill the seat of Colorado’s 4th Congressional District which willbe held on 25 June.

Last week, Congress passed H.R. 4366, which included the first of two billsproviding Fiscal Year 2024 appropriations. The bill was transmitted to PresidentJoseph R.
