THE UNITED STATES SENATE
The Senate considered and passed S. 4235, the “Reauthorizing Support and
Treatment for Officers in Crisis Act,” by unanimous consent. The bill, which is an
FOP priority, would reauthorize grants that fund law enforcement family-support
services, suicide-prevention programs, and mental health services for law
enforcement officers. The bill now goes to the House for further action.
The Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee and the Senate
Committee on the Judiciary held a joint hearing entitled “A joint hearing to examine
the security failures leading to the assassination attempt on former President
Trump.” Ronald L. Rowe, Jr., Acting Director of the U.S. Secret Service, and Paul
Abbate, Deputy Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, testified.
The Senate considered, amended, and passed S. 4199, the “Judicial Understaffing
Delays Getting Emergencies Solved (JUDGES) Act,” by unanimous consent. The bill
will be transmitted to the House for further action.
S. 597, the “Social Security Fairness Act,” has reached 62 cosponsors in the Senate
after Senators Richard L. Scott (R-FL) and John N. Boozman (R-AR) signed on as
cosponsors.
