With that, the Police Unity Tour was formed. What started with 18 riders on a fourday fund-raising bicycle ride from Florham Park, NJ to the National LawEnforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C. has grown into 9 chaptersconsisting of nearly 2,600 members nationwide who make the trip annually.Participants include riders, motorcycles, and support personnel. On this episode of the Blue View, National President Patrick Yoes sits down withPatrick Montuore and Harry Phillips, the Executive Director of the Unity Tour.

@GLFOP @FOPNATIONALNATIONAL FRATERNAL ORDER OF POLICEThis week, the House Committee on the Judiciary held a markup on H.R. 354, the“LEOSA Reform Act,” H.R. 743, the “Protect and Serve Act,” H.R. 3325, the “Recruitand Retain Act; and H.R. 8146, the “Police Our Borders Act.” The Committeefavorably reported H.R. 3325, which the FOP supports, by voice vote and H.R. 8146was passed on a 14-10 vote. Both bills are now pending on the House floor. Thecommittee will consider H.R. 354, the “LEOSA Reform Act,” and H.R. 734, the“Protect and Serve Act,” next week. Both of the bills are FOP priorities. THIS WEEK IN WASHINGTONTHE U.S. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVESThe House passed S. 474, the “The Revising Existing Procedures On Reporting viaTechnology (REPORT) Act,” by voice vote under a suspension of the rules, whichwas then transmitted to President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. to be signed into law.The House Committee on the Judiciary held a field hearing in Pennsylvania, PAentitled “Victims of Violent Crime in Philadelphia”, which examines the impact ofhow the current District Attorney’s polices are affecting crime in the city. Thehearing witnesses include a retired Philadelphia law enforcement officer, thefamilies of officers killed in the line of duty, victims of crime, and other experts inthe criminal justice field.

@GLFOP @FOPNATIONALNATIONAL FRATERNAL ORDER OF POLICETHIS WEEK IN WASHINGTONTHE UNITED STATES SENATEThe Senate continued debate on H.R. 3935, the “Federal Aviation AdministrationReauthorization Act,” and an agreement on amendments is not expected until nextweek. The FAA’s authorization expires on 10 May. The FOP supports S. Amdt1916/H.R. 1839/S. 933 which would add xylazine to the Controlled SubstancesAct, listing it as a Schedule III drug for illicit use, and S. Amdt. 1950, the “LawEnforcement and Victim Support Act.” This amendment includes the language fromthe following bills supported by the FOP, all of which previously passed the Senate:S.546, the "Recruit and Retain Act"S. 645, the "Fighting Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Act”S. 994, the "Strong Communities Act"S. 1170, the “Project Safe Childhood Act”S. 1387, the "Project Safe Neighborhoods Grant Authorization Act" The FOP is monitoring S. Amdt 1949, the “Securing Growth and Robust Leadershipin American Aviation Act,” Which reauthorizes the Federal Aviation Administration(FAA) through FY2028, including activities and programs related to airport planningand development, facilities and equipment, and operations. The NationalTransportation Safety Board would additionally be reauthorized through FY2028.The Senate confirmed numerous appointments, including the confirmation of GaryD. Grimes, Sr., of Arkansas, to be United States Marshal for the Western District ofArkansas.
