Our bill passed the House on anoverwhelming 327-75 vote—giving us a clear mandate to end the unfairness and injustice that stealsbillions from hardworking public servants every year. We need to make sure that our Senatorsunderstand the stakes and the need to act!To bring the Senate’s focus and attention to this legislation, the FOP and other unions representingpublic sector workers are staging a rally on Wednesday, 11 December at 11:30am in the Upper SenatePark near the Russell Senate Office Building. National President Yoes and the bill’s House and Senatesponsors will be speaking and calling on the Senate to hold an up-or-down vote on the legislation.Even if you can’t be there, you can still support the FOP’s grassroots push to get a vote on H.R. 82! Inaddition to contacting both of your Senators and asking that they support H.R. 82, you can contact:Senate Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) at 202-224-2158 and Senate Minority Leader MitchMcConnell (R-KY) at 202-224-3135 and ask them to work together to schedule the bill for a voteon the House floor.Also contact the Senate Committee on Finance – especially Ranking Member Michael D. Crapo(R-ID) at 202-224-4515 and ask for their support to move H.R. 82 to the Senate floor for a vote.Your attendance at the rally and/or your calls to your Senators, Senate Leadership, and the Financecan make a difference! The bill, which wouldreauthorize the Office of National Drug Control Policy, now awaits action in theSenate.THIS WEEK IN WASHINGTONTHE U.S. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVESThe Task Force on the Attempted Assassination of Donald J. Trump held a hearingentitled, the “Secret Service Security Failures and the Attempts to AssassinatePresident-Elect Donald J. Trump.” Ronald Rowe, the Acting Director of the UnitedStates Secret Service, testified.The House Subcommittee on Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Protection held ahearing entitled “Design VS. Default: Analyzing Shifts in Cybersecurity,” whichincluded testimony from cybersecurity experts on how to protect America fromgrowing cybersecurity threats.

This legislation would protect individuals online from the distribution ofnonconsensual imagery perpetrated by artificial intelligence (AI). The FOP has beensupportive of this bill and is urging the House to take up and pass it. The Senate confirmed numerous judicial nominations.The Senate passed S. 4305, the “DHS Better Ballistic Body Armor Act,” byunanimous consent. The bill would improve the effectiveness of body armor issuedto female agents and officers of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. The Senate passed S. 4477, the “Second Chance Reauthorization Act” byunanimous consent. The bill supports efforts to reduce recidivism rates andimprove outcomes for people returning from prisons, jails, and juvenile facilities.
