THE WEEK OF 9 MARCH 2020 LEGISLATIVE NEWS AND ACTIVITY National President Patrick Yoes and Executive Director Jim Pasco met with several private sector organizations to discuss the development of affinity programs with the FOP Executive Director Pasco met with Tim Shea who was recently appointed as Interim U S Attorney for the District of Columbia by Attorney General William P Barr regarding the Presidential Commission on Law Enforcement and the Administration of Justice as well as interactions with the U S Attorney s Office for the District of Columbia Executive Director Pasco and Senior Legislative Liaison Tim Richardson met with Philip E Keith Director of the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services COPS to discuss the ongoing work of the Presidential Commission on Law Enforcement and the Administration of Justice Executive Director Pasco spoke with Dean M Kueter Jr Executive Director of the Presidential Commission on Law Enforcement and the Administration of Justice regarding the Commission s upcoming activities Executive Director Pasco met with Michael C Stenger Sergeant at Arms for the United States Senate to discuss issues related to the security of the U S Capitol complex FRATERNAL ORDER OF POLICE GLFOP GLFOP FOPnational

THE WEEK OF 9 MARCH 2020 LEGISLATIVE NEWS AND ACTIVITY National Sergeant at Arms Keith Turney and Senior Legislative Liaison Richardson represented the FOP at the Public Safety NG 911 Leadership Discussion hosted by the Major Cities Chiefs and the Major Country Sheriffs of America Senior Legislative Liaison Richardson represented the FOP at a meeting of the National Officer Safety and Wellness OSW Working Group which was chaired by Director Keith Additionally Claire M Murray Principal Deputy Associate Attorney General addressed the participants Senior Legislative Liaison Richardson participated in a conference call with staff in the office of Senator Dianne Feinstein D CA Ranking Member on the Committee on the Judiciary along with other law enforcement stakeholder groups to discuss pending legislation Senior Legislative Liaison Richardson and Legislative Liaison Mark McDonald participated in two separate conference calls hosted by the U S Department of Homeland Security s Office of Intergovernmental Affairs regarding updates on the Administration s activities pertaining to the coronavirus Senior Legislative Liaison Richardson and Legislative Liaison McDonald represented the FOP at a monthly meeting of criminal justice stakeholder groups FRATERNAL ORDER OF POLICE GLFOP GLFOP FOPnational

THE WEEK OF 9 MARCH 2020 UPDATE FOP PRIORITIES H R 1156 THE LEOSA REFORM ACT This bill would would amend the Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act LEOSA which exempts qualified active and retired law enforcement officers from local and State prohibitions on the carriage of concealed firearms to ensure that these officers are able to carry in the same venues as civilian concealed carry permit holders in areas like schools and national parks as well as use public transportation and extends the exemption to magazine capacity and would allow active and retired law enforcement officers to access services at U S post offices Social Security Administration offices or Veterans Affairs facilities House Cosponsors H R 1325 34 34 0 THE PROTECT AND SERVE ACT This bill would would make it a Federal crime to target a law enforcement officer with an assault that results in seriously bodily harm or death House Cosponsors 35 FRATERNAL ORDER OF POLICE 29 GLFOP GLFOP 6 FOPnational
