We know that no one can represent an officer as well as a fellow officer. FOP members have worked through thousands of labor situations. The Labor Services Office has access to the collective knowledge of more than 351,000 law enforcement professionals.The Labor Services Division is staffed by full-time professionals who provide highly skilled support services on behalf of the Grand Lodge to state and local lodges in the area of labor relations. FOP Legal DefenseLegal defense protection is a necessity for law enforcement professionals. As the frequency and cost of allegations arise, the FOP Legal Defense Plan offers you and your lodge members a very affordable and comprehensive plan. No other organization offers the level of service and coverage that is provided by the FOP.The FOP Legal Defense Plan is a member governed program that protects the rights of officers and ensures attorney representation. The Plan offers legal defense programs that work for individual members and local labor lodges.The FOP Legal Defense Plan provides coverage for administrative proceedings, civil lawsuits, and criminal investigations, prosecutions, and grand jury proceedings that arise in the scope of your law enforcement employment. The FOP Legal Defense Plan also offers concealed weapon coverage for FOP active and retired law enforcement officers. Legal defense coverage is provided for civil or criminal claims associated with HR-218, which allows active and retired law enforcement officer to carry a concealed weapon throughout the country. FOP Memorial ServiceIn 1982, the Fraternal Order of Police established the National Peace Officers’ Memorial Day Service. Each year, on May 15, the Fraternal Order of Police honors that tradition and pays a special tribute to the brave men and women of law enforcement who have given their lives in service to their communities and country. Every member of the Fraternal Order of Police is a law enforcement officer and knows, firsthand, the sacrifice each officer and family make for their communitiesMore than 30,000 law enforcement officers, as well as the surviving family members and friends of slain officers, travel to the nation’s capital to join the FOPs Annual National Peace Officers’ Memorial Service.
