The budgetresolution acts as an outline for priorities on taxes, immigration, defense, energy, andFederal spending and allows for the consideration of a reconciliation measure. A budgetreconciliation measure can pass with a simple majority, avoiding a Senate filibuster.The House considered and passed H.R. 22, the “SAVE Act,” which would requireindividuals to provide documentary proof of U.S. citizenship when registering to vote infederal elections by a vote of 220-208. The House considered H. Con. Res. 9, Authorizing the use of the Capitol Grounds for theNational Peace Officers Memorial Service and the National Honor Guard and Pipe BandExhibition, under suspension of the rules.The House considered and passed H.R 1228, the “Prioritizing Veterans Survivors Act,”which would restore the Office of Survivors Assistance to its original role under theSecretary of Veterans Affairs, on a vote of 424-0. The House Judiciary Committee held a hearing entitled, “A Continued Pattern ofGovernment Surveillance of U.S. Citizens.”The House Judiciary Committee held a hearing entitled, “Sanctuary Jurisdictions:Magnet for Migrants, Cover for Criminals.” Witnesses included Neill Franklin, the FormerExecutive Director of the Law Enforcement Action Partnership.The House considered and passed H.R. 1526, the “No Rogue Rulings Act,” which wouldlimit the authority of federal district courts to issue injunctions by a vote of 219-213.

Meador to serve as a Commissioner within the FederalTrade Commission by a vote of 50-46.The Senate confirmed Elbridge A. Colby to serve as Under Secretary of Defense forPolicy within the U.S. Department of Defense by a vote of 54-45.The Senate Committee on Armed Services held a hearing entitled “To receive testimonyon Department of Defense personnel policies and programs in review of the DefenseAuthorization Request for Fiscal Year 2026 and the Future Years Defense Program.”The Senate considered and passed S.Res. 179, A resolution recognizing and supportingthe goals and ideals of National Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month, byunanimous consent.
