Hern (R-OK) in Tulsa, Oklahoma to discuss H.R. 82,the “Social Security Fairness Act.” National President Patrick Yoes and Executive Director Jim Pasco participated in avirtual meeting with the Texas State Lodge Executive Board about the SocialSecurity Fairness Act.National President Patrick Yoes attended an AI training session and a AI retreatwith AXON in Scottsdale, Arizona regarding the expansion of this growingtechnology into the law enforcement profession.

Clements, Jr. Director of theOffice of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS), about S. 1306, the “COPSReauthorization Act.” Executive Director Jim Pasco spoke with representatives from both Presidentialcampaigns about issues related to the FOP’s endorsement process.

Rank-and-file law enforcement officers and firefighters traveled together to ourNation’s capital to highlight the important issues facing our public safetyorganizations. They shared with Congress the challenges of public safetyofficers, including the right of public safety officers to collectively bargain,protecting due process for officers and firefighters, and repealing the WindfallElimination Provision (WEP) and Government Pension Offset (GPO)!On this episode of the Blue View Podcast, National FOP President Patrick Yoessits down with IAFF General President Ed Kelly to discuss the two organizationsand their shared fight for fairness.

@GLFOP @FOPNATIONALNATIONAL FRATERNAL ORDER OF POLICETHIS WEEK IN WASHINGTONTHE UNITED STATES SENATEThe Senate attempted to pass S. 1809, which would ban the import, sale,manufacture, possession and transfer of bump stocks and other devices, throughunanimous consent. The measure failed due to an objection by Senator J. PeterRickets (R-NE).The Senate Committee on Appropriations held a hearing entitled “A Review of thePresident's Fiscal Year 2025 Budget Request for the National Guard and Reserves.”The Senate passed S.870, the “Fire Grants and Safety Act,” which reauthorizesthrough Fiscal Year 2030 the U.S. Fire Administration, the Assistance to FirefightersGrants Program, and the Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response GrantProgram. The bill would additionally make the government of China, and any entityor organization operating or incorporated in China, ineligible to be a recipient orsubrecipient of Federal assistance under such programs. The bill now goes toPresident Joseph R. Biden, Jr., who is expected to sign it into law.
